Description |
Bai Hao oolong tea, with its multi-hued leaves reminiscent of autumn foliage, is a perfect choice for an autumn tea. The name Bai Hao means white tip and refers to the small tender white buds that are picked along with the top two leaves. Bai Hao originates from Xinzhu County, Taiwan Province. This area in northern Taiwan is especially humid and foggy and the natural environmental conditions help to create the special characteristics of Bai Hao. Unlike most high-quality Taiwanese oolong teas, which are picked in the spring or winter, the best grades of Bai Hao are harvested in June and July. Once harvested, the leaves of Bai Hao are processed to a greater degree of oxidation (around 50-60%) than other Taiwanese oolong teas. The result is a tea with a very smooth and sweet flavor, virtually no astringency, and a unique aroma of ripe peaches and honey.
There are many stories about the origin of Bai Hao tea. According to one Taiwanese tea book, a tea farmer in Beipu noticed that small green insects resembling grasshoppers had damaged the leaves of his newly picked spring crop. Rather than destroying his crop, he decided to process the leaves into tea. He took his finished tea to a local tea merchant, who liked it well enough to pay him twice the price of his usual tea.
Bai Hao is also known as "Dong Fang Mei Ren" or Oriental Beauty. The origin of this name dates back to the early 20th century when a British tea merchant presented a sample of this tea to Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen was captivated by the special aroma and taste of Bai Hao. Because of the tea's lovely appearance, like a beautiful lady, and its origin in Asia, the Queen named it "Oriental Beauty".
***** Oolong, meaning Black Dragon in Chinese, is a semi-fermented tea, a cross between green and black teas. Oolong tea is a variety of semi-fermented (oxidized) tea that is known for its sweet and flowery qualities. The oxidation of the leaves during the drying process establishes Oolong’s unique place among tea between Green and Black teas. Green varieties exhibit a slight withering and browning of the edges of the leaves. Darker Oolongs are fully browned and more robust. Oolong has many metabolic stimulating attributes and can be used for weight management in addition to a well balanced diet. All oolongs help in any weight loss program and have been used for centuries.
It is said that oolong tea first began to be produced at Mt. Wu Yi Shan in Fujian Province at the end of the Ming Dynasty about 400 years ago. Oolong tea has been described as "Yu Xiang Hui Wei " as it goes through so many different production stages in order to generate a good flavor and aroma. The tea consists of several dozens of kinds of leaves that have different flavors and aromas due to differences in the leaves, the production area, and the harvest time. Among them, Tie Guan Yin, Shui Xian, and Oolong are well known, and many renowned oolong teas are produced in Fujian Province. Oolong tea produced in the Province is exported throughout the world as the tea that is representative of China, the home of tea.
To Enjoy: Place one teaspoon per cup into an infuser, filter or teapot. Switch the kettle off, before it boils, when you hear the water rumbling. Add the hot, but not boiling, water and infuse for 3 minutes. Serve immediately or remove leaves to prevent spoiling.

Shipping rates are based solely upon the actual weight of the item and packing (box, foam wrap, etc.). Our shipping charges include packaging, handling, shipping and insurance. According the policy of China Post, we have to arrange shipping as registered SAL/air/EMS parcels. This will take up to 35 days (Usually much quicker), depending on different shipping methods and your distance from China.

Tracking Numbers
The majority of orders shipped by Dragon Tea House are sent via SAL with a delivery confirmation number. This number only details the shipping date and delivery date after it has occurred; it is not a real-time tracking number. Only orders that have been shipped via EMS  means receive a tracking number which will be e-mailed to the customer.
Customs
Customers may be subject to import duties and taxes. We will, however, only charge you for the purchase price, shipping and handling and/or optional insurance (if requested) for your item(s). Any additional charges incurred at customs clearance must be paid for by you.
Shipping Damages & Loss
Orders over 100 are insured which protects against shipping damage and loss by the carrier. Customers are given the option to receive an exact item or refund. Inspect all orders immediately upon arrival. Within 72 hours of receipt, report any damages to us. If it has been over 40 days since your order date and it has not been received, contact Dragon Tea House to investigate the location of your order. While we will work quickly to locate, send another one or refund your purchase, please allow up to 15 days for resolution. For non-insured orders , we can provide you with proof of shipping and the delivery confirmation number to contact your local post office, as well as help with an investigation.

Return Policy

Return/Exchange unwanted products within 3 days of receipt. Shipping will not be refunded for returns on unwanted items and exchanged products may be charged a shipping fee. We do not accept returns on any used products . Items must be returned in original packaging and in resale condition.

Dragon Tea House will send another one (with like product) or refund any defective product within 30 days of customer receipt. Shipping will be reimbursed for the return and change of defective items. No refunds are made for sentimental losses or for any expenses incurred as a result of the loss.
Return Procedure
- All returns must have a Return Authorization to be accepted and processed. If you need to return or exchange products for any reason please contact Dragon Tea House. State the order number, product, and reason for the return. We cannot be responsible for items shipped back to Dragon Tea House without pre-approval.
- You will receive e-mail confirmation when your return is received and processed. To file a claim send us a picture of the damaged item, with the original packaging, via e-mail within 3 days of the receipt of your item.
- Returned items must be received and inspected by Dragon Tea House prior to reimbursement or shipping the same items.
- Credits/refunds will be issued in the manner in which they are paid. Regardless of the reason of return (unwanted item or defective/damaged item) please allow 15 days for return processing and refund.

Dragon Tea House offers a special discount to anyone who would like to purchase our products in bulk quantity. The % discount depends on the amount of items purchased and is applied to the regular retail price. Free shipping may or may not apply to these orders. Please contact us with any large item purchase inquiries to receive an order quote, discount and a current inventory evaluation. When the order has been agreed upon an invoice will be e-mailed or sent. Orders are processed when payment is received.
Product Availability & Backorders
Dragon Tea House offers a variety of brands and products that are usually in stock and our inventory is replenished each week. Rarely an item may be on temporary or extended backorder from the manufacturer. We make every effort to list on the product page any backorder information that is available. Once you have made your purchase, if an item is out of stock we will contact you immediately. You will be notified if the item is anticipated to take longer than two weeks to be received. You have the option to cancel the backordered items (regardless of wait time) and receive a refund.
