History of FORMER SOVIET UNION YAK-38 BLACKSMITH AIRPLANE

Yak-38 is a short range carrier-bome vertical takeoff / landing (VTOL) combat aircraft developed by Yakovlev Design Bureau of the former Soviet Union. It is aslo the second type of batch-manufactured VTOL combat aircraft in the world. Notwithstanding a certain degree of aoir defense capability, its primary roles were land and sea target strike and reconnaissance. The plane is carrier-borne type of Yak-36. It was first taken in the air in1970 and was put into service of the former Soviet navy in 1947 . Its production has been terminated since 1991.
