Description.
Please find for sale a large Whitby jet locket set with a gold panel decorated with seed pearls, the letters appearing to be 'IMO' which could be 'In memory of'. This is mounted on a Whitby jet faceted bead collar necklace with a fob clip to join in to the locket and jump ring.
Size.
The size necklace length is 1000mm (100cm).
Closed the locket measures 58mm long (71mm including top loop) x 49mm wide x 1.5mm deep.
Weight.
The weight is 87g. Gross.
Condition.
This is in fairly good condition with no undue wear, damage or repair. there is a chip to the edge of the locket where it closes as shown and there is also a small amount of loss on the hinge side too. If you look closely some of the beads have losses too, although generally it is not too bad.
The enamel top ring on the locket also has some enamel off. The inside of the locket is ok, it opens and closes with a click, I think it could be magnetic. One side has the retaining ring and glazed panel for a picture, the other side has the retaining ring only.

A good quality jet locket made c.1890.
This is all definately real jet.
