I am selling this for an elderly woman. She told me she found it in her fathers basement. She was married at the time and had her first child so she took it for her child to play on. All three of her kids rode on this horse when they were little. She said it wasnt new when she got it and her kids are all in their mid to late 50's now. The mohair is really not too bad considering how much use it has had. It shows some loss at the back end. And Ed is missing his tail and I am not sure how much of a mane there was but it too has disappeared. The original saddle is still there with the stirrups. I think it might be leather(I am not positive though as it is old) with plastic straps. The strap on the back of the saddle is broken and I am not sure what it was used for. It is missing one eye and the eye it has is not glass but metal. I took it out and it looks like a lightning bolt is attached to it and then pushed into the horse. When I took the photos I didnt realize the saddle was sitting so far back. It moved forward fine. This is stuffed with what looks like straw (and I would think maybe sawdust to make it so compact and tight) that I can see where the small hole is from the tail was. I thought at first this might be a steiff when I saw it but no ear tag or a hole where one might have been. The wheels and metal are all in pretty good shape and intact but I do see cracks in the rubber wheel part. The bottom of the feet are all hand stitched and are attached tightly to the base. The horse part measures about 18 inches long and stands just under a foot tall. The base with the wheels is 18.75 inches long, 9 inches wide and the wheels are 5 inches tall. I have spent many hours trying to find something or anything like this on the internet and have come up with nothing. I hope I have given you enough information but if I have forgotten something please ask questions. If anyone knows more about it please email me. I do like to learn. This is a very neat old mohair horse toy to add to your collection!
Check out my other auctions for more great vintage and collectible items!
All items are stored in a smoke free home! Sometimes family and friends save boxes and packing material for me as I am a nut about recycling. Some of them smoke in their homes. When I bring boxes etc home that have been given to me I store them with my shipping supplies in my garage and hope they will be aired out before I use them. If you are allergic to smoke please let me know and I will make sure a box and packing material is not from those sources. However once it leaves here I have no control over postal employees who smoke while driving around delivering mail.
Please remember that when you are bidding on vintage, antique, secondhand, collectible and estate items- most are not 100% perfect and will show some evidence of age, usage and general wear. I buy what I like and sell them as I find them. I do not attempt to make repairs and rarely even clean them. I try to describe items as honestly and accurately as possible and some things that I see as normal aging, others might see as a flaw or defect. I do not claim to be an expert and don’t always know what to look for when examining an item SO PLEASE EMAIL ME WITH QUESTIONS.
Due to new Ebay rules....I now have to use a calculator or an exact shipping cost. Since all my items vary in size, weight and everyone lives in different postal zones an exact cost is not possible. So please use the calculator and know that I am estimating on the high side since I can't wrap up and store every item in a box ready to be shipped. If it winds up costing less to ship I always refund any overcharge back to the buyer through Paypal. I usually don’t use UPS but have no problem doing so if you want it shipped that way. If I put 2 shipping options in you need to let me know as soon as the auction closes how you want your item shipped. If I don’t hear from you I will use the cheapest option available. I do combine s/h to save you money if you want to purchase more items. I do refund any overcharge on shipping back to you through paypal.
For International Shipping please email me for a shipping quote if I didn’t put the calculator on the listing. If you are overcharged on shipping I will do a partial refund through Paypal. I’ll also email you a copy of the postal receipt which has the customs form for your records. You might be able to use the customs number to track your item if it gets lost. It just depends on your country. Please note if you do want First Class International shipping which is the cheapest way to ship (THERE IS NO INSURANCE or tracking available) and it can only be used on packages weighing less than 4 pounds. If you choose First Class International you do so at your own risk. Although I have never had a package lost or an item broken when shipped this way the odds are it will happen at some point in time. I will make Priority Mail an option as well as your package will be covered by an indemnity for loss or damage. Please note I will not alter the selling price nor put gift on a customs form so please do not bother to ask. Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding/buying
Payment needs to reach me within 10 business days of your receiving the invoice. Communication is important when buying or selling on Ebay so if I don’t hear from you I will not hesitate to report you as an unpaid buyer with Ebay. I ship out fast and usually within 24 hours of payment (weekend payments mean your item goes out on Monday). Insurance is required on USPS shipping and the amount quoted is what they charge. UPS includes insurance up to I believe $100.00 on all packages. I will not be responsible for damage or lost packages during shipping. I have shipped hundreds of fragile items worldwide with no problems because I pack well. To defer some costs as well as recycling I use grocery bags with packing peanuts. They work great and help stabilize and item and keep it from moving better than just the packing peanuts. Please recycle all packing materials. There is always someone around who can use them if you just ask. If you do not want loose packing peanuts in your box please let me know and I will bag them. A $2 handling fee is added to all shipping totals and goes towards packing materials and pays for delivery confirmation on US shipping. I do not profit from charging a handling fee. For that matter when I did my taxes for last year shipping cost me several hundred dollars out of my pocket. If I could afford to absorb the cost I would.
Good Luck bidding!
