Antonio Stradivari, the world's greatest luthier, was born in Cremona, Italy in 1644. Throughout his life he created more that 1,100 instruments which are now prized by collectors all over the world. Since his death in 1737, technological advances have achieved miracles. Still, no one has able to equal the perfection of his instruments. The secret seems to be in the wood he used, of the red fire tree from Val di Fiemme, in the north-east of Italy. As the conductor Niccolo Paganini said, "Stradivari used only the wood from trees in which nightingales sang". To make extraordinary music you need an extraordinary instrument.
Montegrappa is honoured to dedicate the first Limited Edition of the Genio Creativo collection to Antonio Stradivari. The soft, sensuous design recalls the tapered lines of the violin and the clip gets inspiration from its four strings. The top cap is embellished by a solitaire topaz, symbolizing the creative genius idea. The pen barrel and cap is made of the precious resin, reproduces the color and veined texture of the special wood Antonio Stradivari chose for his unique instruments. The writing tool is decorated with the platinum-plated finishing. The fountain pen nib, 18K gold nib is decorated with the shape of a violin and the initials A.S., it uses the piston refilling system. The fountain pen is beautifully presented in the special design red wooden pen case.
