What is the Networked Media Tank (NMT)? The NMT is an all-in-one network media device. It is a combination of a Digital Media Player (DMP), a Network Attached Storage (NAS) device and a Media Server. All these features are built into a single fully integrated hardware package that will allow the user to view, share and store their digital media with unrivalled ease. The NMT brings all your digital entertainment requirements together into the comfort of your living room, allows you to share, stream and play digital media contents for the most part without the reliance on a PC, thus streamlining your digital entertainment setup.
Why do I need an NMT player? If you have a large media collection and would like to view it on your plasma/projector/home theatre system. What do I need in order to play back from an NMT player? There are several streaming options available for play back. 1) Install Myihome software which is downloadable from the manufactures website. 2) Install Llink provided by Lundman 3) Connect to your PC via NFS / SMB network connection. 4) Connect to your NAS via NFS / SMB / UPNP AV. 5) Install an internal HDD/external HDD. 6) Hook up an external DVD ROM (for non-css encrypted DVD only)
How do I connect my NMT player to my home theatre system? 1) The Kaiboer K200 supports a HDMI connection if your AVR supports HDMI, you can connect to it directly. 2) You need to have an optical/coaxial cable and plug it into any of the optical/coaxial inputs of your AVR (Audio Video Receiver). 3) You could also set your K200 audio output as Stereo output for your 2 channel amp or your TV. 4) The Kaiboer K200 can passthrough HD audio codec's via HDMI1.3 to a suitable AVR.
Do I need to install an internal hard disk in order to use my NMT player? 1) No, you can stream movies/music/pictures from your PC or NAS (network attached storage). 2) You can attach an external USB storage device which contains the media.
Can I connect a USB keyboard to NMT? Yes, a USB keyboard can be used with the NMT. Command keys are as follows:
Can I plug an external DVD rom? Yes you can, the USB port can support external DVD rom. However the sigma 8634 chip does not perform CSS decryption, your DVD must not be CSS protected.
Can I eject the external DVD rom by using the remote? Yes, there is an eject button on the remote.
What is the recommended wireless dongle? TP-Link's model TL-WN821N(802.11n) is fully compatible
Does NMT support subtitles? Yes, currently the NMT support subtitles in the following format. SRT, SMI, SUB, SSA (You need to rename the subtitle file to be the same name as your movie and place it in the same folder.)
Does NMT support other subtitle language other than English? Currently the NMT provides support for English, Chinese, and some other European languages.
Does NMT support embedded subtitles in mkv? Yes! It is supported. Ensure that the embedded subtitles are supported by NMT, for example: .srt, .sub, .smi and .ssa
Current firmware still can't support the embedded subtitles in m2ts yet
How to install the Networked Media Tank Applications? (Advanced users can install the NMT Applications on the hard drive, adding the ability to use the Kaiboer NMT as a multimedia centre, including such features as BitTorrent functionality and YouTube video browsing. )
What file systems are supported for NMT? File system read supported: EXT2/3, NTFS, FAT16/32, HFS+ File system write supported: EXT2/3, FAT16/32. NTFS write (not supported and low priority in to do list)
What network file sharing protocols are supported? The NMT supports Samba (CIFS), NFS, HTTP (myiHome), and FTP.
What speeds should I expect when streaming over the network? Assuming you are using a 100mbit (wired) connection end-to-end: SMB: ~38Mbps NFS: ~33Mbps HTTP (myiHome): ~42Mbps (some clips peak at 47Mbps) For direct attached devices: USB HDD: ~ 42Mbps USB DVDROM (8x): ~42Mbps Internal HDD: ~42Mbps
What is the best network connection for playing back high bitrate content? Based on the answer to the previous question, HTTP (myiHome) is the preferred method as it is the fastest. However it does not support .iso/.ifo files, the next best choice is SMB which supports those file formats.
