In 1942, sixty-five women - members of the Australian Army Nursing Service - were evacuated from a blazing Singapore, to escape captivity by the invading Japanese. Of that group, 24 survived bombing, shipwreck, downing, shotting, sickness, disease and captivity in Sumatra to return to Australia three and a half years later. William Heinemann, Melbourne Australia, 1985. Hardcover. 131 pages, index, black & white photographs. Happy to combine postage. Please see my other interesting items for sale.
