In May 1939, Morton, having decided that war with Germany was inevitable, felt compelled to make a joruney around the country to catch what he thought might be a last glimpse of pre-war England. He explored the countryside, the villages and stately homes, which he felt might be changed or lost forever. His 2nd journey took place in October 1939 - when he recorded his impressions of a country at war. An England of munitions factories, blackouts, POW camps and the Home Guard. 50 years later, Tommy Candler has retraced Mortons footsteps taking photos of all those places he visted and happily dispelling his fears by finding an England extraordinarily unchanged.
