DESCRIPTION.

Please find for sale a beautiful looking Dutch silver gilt sewing basket / Breimandje made by Pierre La Ruelle in Amsterdam 1809 - 1910.

SIZE (25.4mm to the inch )

The basket is 54.9mm in diameter at the base and 84mm in diameter at the top.

The height is 54.7mm.

WEIGHT (31.1g to the troy ounce)

The weight is 75.9g. Gross.

CONDITION.

This is in fairly good condition with no undue wear, damage or repair. There ar eno splits, the gilding is still nice and strong although the base of the basket on the inside does have gilding wear. There is also some light tarnish. All in a good quality piece of early Dutch silver.

HALLMARKS & MAKER.

The marks to the base are for Pierre La Ruelle, Amsterdam, 1809. There is also the 'axe' mark for items of silver reintroduced onto the market as well as the 'crown' mark for the grade of silver which is 934.

A fabulous looking and rare Dutch sewing basket.
