Sunglasses. In the late 1920's, the U.S. Army Air Corps approached
Bausch & Lomb with an urgent request for an optical glass that
would help fliers overcome the brutal glare of the sun. Responding to
this need, Bausch & Lomb created the first Ray-Ban glass, which not
only met, but far exceeded the exacting Air Corps standards.
Today,
Ray-Ban sunglasses are still manufactured to standards that produce the
same level of excellence. Each pair provides full glare protection
while preserving peak visual acuity. Ray-Ban sunglasses also provide
100% protection from the harmful effects of UV rays. Their finely
ground and polished lenses are free of the waves, blemishes and other
defects that can distort vision. The frames too are produced under the
same code of quality. (Bausch & Lomb).
The
Ray Ban Aviator has been in production since 1937 and has become a
design classic. Recognised the world over for its style and
functionality, it has been much imitated. The aviator has always been a
favourite with pilots, musicians, models and actors including Johnny
Depp (Donnie Brasco), Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. All of my
sunglasses are in excellent condition.
Detail Specification
These
Ray-Ban sunglasses are made by Bausch & Lomb, a world-framed
company with more than one hundreds and thirty years of experience in
manufacturing fine vision care products and scientific optical
instruments. They are designed and manufactured with the experience,
skill and care necessary to make them “The World’s Finest Sunglasses”
Ray-Ban
lenses are made of optical glass scientifically formulated to provide
full glare protection and to enhance vision. They block visible glare,
check ultraviolet rays, and reduce the level of infrared (heat) rays.
All Ray-Ban lenses provide 100% UVA, UVB and UVC protection against the
sun’s potential harmful ultraviolet rays
· G-15 – Neutral Green lenses transmit all colors equally so they retain their true value 85% visible light absorption;
· B-15 – High Contrast Brown lenses screen out blue light to improve contrast sharpen details. 85% visible light absorption.
Ray-Ban frames are made from specially
composed metal alloys or the finest plastics and are formed in a series
of exacting operations. Each frame style has been carefully designed to
fit properly and comfortably even for extended wearing periods.

Gold Frame models (Classic Metal Arista) - a layer of almost pure gold
(24 karat) is permanently bonded to core metal specially alloyed for
both strength and malleability.
· Black Crome model (Gunmetal) – the layer is black chrome, not an enamel that could wear or chip off.
The right lens carries
the Ray-Ban logo in white lettering. Both lenses are etched BL next to
the hinges. The nose pads have BL embossed into them. We do have 3
different sizes and detail as below:-
· SMALL SIZE – lenses are 52mm wide by 46mm deep. The length between hinges to hinges is 118mm. The brow ridge is stamped with “ B&L RAY-BAN USA” on top and underneath is “B&L RAY-BAN 52[ ]14”
· MEDIUM SIZE – lenses are 58mm wide by 52mm deep. The length between hinges to hinges is 130mm. The brow ridge is stamped with “ B&L RAY-BAN USA” on top and underneath is “B&L RAY-BAN 58[ ]14”
· LARGE SIZE – lenses are 62mm wide by 55mm deep. The length between hinges to hinges is 138mm. The brow ridge is stamped with “ B&L RAY-BAN USA” on top and underneath is “B&L RAY-BAN 62[ ]14”
The
sunglasses come with Ray-Ban box, Brown Hard Case, Cleaning Cloth,
Booklet Care Guide and Warranty Card (1 year). This is the original RAYBAN
AVIATOR by B&L USA and we don't sell any replica item.
