History of Benjarong :	The Benjarong is a traditional form of Thai porcelain. The style of multi-colored enamels on a white porcelain base came from Ming dynasty China. The name “Benjarong” was derived from Bali and Sanskrit words Benja and Rong, meaning literally “Five Colors”. “Five Colors” really means “many colors” because the hand-painted pieces are usually decorated in three, five, eight colors, or even more.From the past to the present, "Benjarong" today have a long history from which they have evolved still maintaining many of the ancient patterns and technical intricacy. It was first introduced to the court dating in 1573. The word "Benjarong" mean Pentachrome Porcelain, the five primary colours, red, blue (or green), yellow, black and white. Sometimes the colours are more or less than five and associated with gold colour called Gilded Polychrome Ware. When gilding or gold background are incorporated into the design, the glittering beauty intensifies its value manifold. Gilding is done when all other colours have been applied blank spaces are purposely left out to be filled in later by final gold colouring. Pure liquid gold colouring used in gilding is 12k for glazed finish and 18k for mat finish. This method really brings out the shine of the gold far better than gilding on top of the colours already applied beforehand. They are all done and painted by hand from the skill-craftsmen. The valuable of Benjarong is a heritage in style of porcelain art.
