About the book

An uncommon title. Dr William Grierson was a doctor in Dumfries who knew Robert Burns. He was one of the prime movers behind the national memorial to Robert Burns. He wrote his diaries between 1794 and 1809. As well as Robert Burns, Grierson discusses the Napoleonic Wars, meal riots, floods, storms, murders, drownings, walks with friends, swimming in the river, curling in wintertime, horse-racing and a deeply passionate love affair.
