GERRY LINDGREN (left) moves toward yet another NCAA title, this time in cross country at barren, 7300-foot Laramie, Wyoming. Behind Lindgren is the season's big surprise, ARJAN GELLING, who won the college division and USTFF races and placed second here.

At (LEFT) - MIKE RYAN, Air Force sophomore who placed third in the NCAA cross country meet, here leads Pittsburgh freshman JERRY RICHEY in the USTFF. Ryan was third here, too. At (CENTER) - Winner ARJAN GELLING (right) strides along between RAY BARRUS and the snow in the USTFF race. Gelling later sped away to beat Barrus by 12 seconds. At (RIGHT) - With the NAIA race a mile or so old, three of the top four lead (left to right): PAT McMAHON (4th), DAVE ELLIS (2nd) and JOHN MASON (1st).
